As I ponder the mountains I'm currently asking God to move, I wonder how many have gone before me doing the same. And how many of them asked in faith or how many of them asked without believing the mountains could even move.
More recently I've been enjoying getting up for early morning prayer two days a week. Ironically, these two mornings follow the two nights I stay up latest each week. Yet it gives me the wonderful opportunity to rely on God for strength through each day. And, starting my morning with an infilling of the Holy Spirit is always refreshing.
This morning was no exception. After prayer I had breakfast with Alalcomeneus and as we were talking I mentioned an upcoming outreach. See a christian illusionist is coming to campus next month and I've been put in charge of meeting the technical requirements. However the particular space booked doesn't accommodate many of these very well. And it only seats 750. This illusionist is known for drawing crowds of 1200 on a single college campus, and we're inviting all Boston campuses. 1200*60 > 750.
Now Alalcomeneus mentions to me the on campus arena. I hadn't thought about this. It seats 6300 arena style and can seat up to 7200 concert/performance style. So we check it's website; no public event scheduled. Now how to book it. See the other struggle is finances. We don't have much to work with. Then it comes to mind that last year the Dean opened up this arena to host a viewing party of the school's hockey team in the frozen four. Free of charge.
As I'm pondering over this, a good friend who had also been at morning prayer called to encourage me that prayer works. I explained the situation. And as I mention asking the Dean, he says "I was just thinking that." After a phone prayer, Alalcomeneus and I went upstairs to the Dean's office and asked to schedule an appointment with him. We were directed to the executive secretary who scheduled us an appointment with the executive director of student affairs and organizations. (A member of the Dean's office!)
Now we're praying over the next two days for that meeting to go well. There are some big mountains in the way of this event, including finances no matter which venue, but I was reminded this morning not to focus on the size of the mountains. Focus on following God and His greatness.
Please pray and expect an update on God's awesomeness!
